About Bounties

What is a Bounty?

TrashBanditβ„’ has four types of bounties β€” Trash, Treasure, Mission, and Group Mission. Each one is a real-world challenge where the community funds a prize pool and verified Bandits compete to win it.

$ Trash Bounty

Someone spots trash or an eyesore in the real world and posts it with photos and a GPS pin. The community bids to boost the prize pool. The first verified Bandit to physically clean it up and submit proof wins the entire pot.

1. Post

Anyone can post a Trash bounty by uploading 3 photos (close-up, far shot, environment) and dropping a GPS pin at the location. Bid whatever you want! β€” $3 is the platform fee and the rest goes into the bandit pool. The bounty is reviewed by a moderator before going live.

2. Bid

Once active, anyone can bid money to grow the prize pool. A flat $3 platform fee is deducted per bid β€” the rest goes directly into the bandit pool. The bigger the pool, the bigger the reward.

3. Accept

A verified Bandit hits Accept, which reveals the secret GPS location and starts a 12-hour countdown to complete the cleanup.

4. Complete & Verify

The Bandit cleans it up and submits 3 completion photos plus a written description. A moderator reviews and, if approved, releases the full bandit pool to the winner.

$ Treasure Bounty

Someone hides a real item, piece of art, or anything of value at a specific location and posts it with photos and a GPS pin. The community bids to fuel the prize pool. Once a bid threshold is met, a verified Bandit can accept the mission, go find the treasure, and the pot goes to YOU.

1. Post

Anyone hides something at a real location, uploads 3 photos, drops a GPS pin, and sets an optional bid threshold β€” the total that must be pledged before the bounty can be accepted. Bid whatever you want! β€” $3 platform fee, rest into the pool.

2. Bid

The community bids to grow the pool. Once the threshold is met, the bounty becomes available to accept.

3. Accept & Hunt

A verified Bandit accepts, receives the GPS location, and goes to find the hidden treasure within the countdown window.

4. Complete & Verify

The Bandit submits proof photos showing they found the treasure. A moderator verifies and releases the full pool.

⚑ Mission Bounty

Need something done in the real world? Post a Mission, describe the task, set the reward, and let verified Bandits compete to complete it first. From quests to challenges or GOOD DEEDS β€” if it's legal and local, it's fair game. No GPS pin required.

πŸ“£ Business Owners β€” Advertise with Missions!

Want more foot traffic and social media buzz? Post a Mission bounty challenging Bandits to visit your shop and post about it on social media. Set your own reward, and real people in your area will come through, post, and spread the word β€” all for a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising. It's word-of-mouth, gamified.

1. Post

Anyone can post a Mission bounty describing what needs to be done. No GPS pin needed. Bid whatever you want! β€” $3 platform fee, rest goes into the pool.

2. Bid

The community bids to grow the prize pool for the mission reward.

3. Accept & Complete

A verified Bandit accepts the mission, completes the task, and submits photo proof. A moderator reviews and releases the full pool to the winner.

πŸ‘₯ Group Mission Bounty

Want to rally a whole crew? Post a Group Mission where multiple Bandits can join and compete. Set a participant limit (or leave it open), choose a deadline, and decide if it's free to join or requires a buy-in. All Bandits submit their own photo proof β€” then a moderator picks one winner who takes the entire pool. Winner takes all!

1. Post

Anyone can post a Group Mission describing the challenge. Set a deadline, an optional participant limit (0 = unlimited), and choose the mode: Free (no cost to join) or Buy-in (each Bandit pays an entry fee that adds to the prize pool). A flat $3 platform fee applies to buy-in entries.

2. Join

Verified Bandits join the mission. The bounty stays on the board so others can join too β€” up to the participant limit (if set).

3. Submit Proof

Each participating Bandit uploads a photo showing they completed the challenge. All submissions are visible on the bounty card.

4. Winner Takes All

When the deadline hits, the mission moves to verification. A moderator reviews all photo submissions and selects one winner who receives the entire prize pool.

πŸ† Bounty Points (BP)

Bounty Points (BP) are an in-platform currency earned by Bandits for completing bounties and checking in at Hideouts. They're displayed on your Dashboard and track your activity and reputation as a Bandit.

How You Earn BP

You earn BP automatically every time you successfully complete a bounty or check in at a Bandit Hideout. The amount varies by bounty type:

  • $ Trash Bounty β€” 50 BP per completed hunt
  • πŸ‘₯ Group Mission β€” 40 BP per completed mission
  • ⚑ Mission Bounty β€” 30 BP per completed mission
  • πŸ’Ž Treasure Bounty β€” 20 BP per completed treasure hunt
  • 🏠 Bandit Hideout β€” 10 BP per check-in

How You Spend BP

Some Reward Bounties require BP to collect instead of a password. The poster sets a BP cost when creating the bounty β€” if you have enough BP in your balance, you can pay the cost to unlock the cash reward pool. Your BP is deducted at the moment you collect, and the cash pool is released to you after moderator verification.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The more bounties you complete and Hideouts you visit, the more BP you accumulate β€” giving you access to bigger and better Reward Bounties that require a BP buy-in to collect.

πŸ’³ Bid

Bid on an active bounty. See something you think is worth doing? Add as much or little as you want! The more the bids, the more likely a Bandit will take the bounty. CHANGE THE WORLD.

A flat $3 platform fee is deducted from every bid β€” the rest goes directly to what the Bandit will win. Your bid doesn't lock you in; you're simply funding the mission you believe in.

Payment Structure

Every bid β€” including the initial posting fee β€” works as follows:

  • A flat $3 platform fee is deducted (for operations and moderation)
  • The remainder goes into the bandit pool (awarded to the successful Bandit)

What Happens on Rejection?

If a moderator rejects a completion (wrong location, insufficient proof, fake photos, etc.), the bounty is relisted as active so another Bandit can try.

Important Rules

  • All bounties must be legal and safe
  • Trash & Treasure bounties require a GPS pin at time of posting
  • Only verified Bandits may accept bounties
  • 3 photos required for posting and completion
  • Do not post bounties to scam or deceive Bandits
  • Photos must accurately represent the actual location
  • Violations can result in suspension or permanent ban
